This Smaller-sized wooden bowl is hand-turned from New Zealand totara and finished with a charred exterior using an open-flame technique inspired by Shou Sugi Ban. The controlled burning process enhances the natural texture of the wood, deepening its tone and adding a rich, tactile surface that contrasts beautifully with the smooth, natural interior.
The simple, functional shape makes it a versatile piece — ideal as a smaller wooden salad bowl or serving bowl. Every curve and line has been shaped and finished by hand, giving it a balance of practicality and quiet artistry. The interior is sealed with a food-safe oil and wax finish that highlights the warm colour of totara and protects it for everyday use.
