Pendant Light Ordering Information

When you order one of my handcrafted wooden pendant light shades, it comes complete with a ceiling rose, fabric cable, and lamp holder—all professionally wired and ready to install.

Because every home is different, I offer several customization options so you can get your pendant light exactly how you want it.

Hardware Colours

The ceiling rose (the unit that connects the fabric cable to your ceiling) and the lamp holder (the unit that connects the wooden shade to the light bulb) are available in black or white.
These are high-quality components manufactured by New Zealand company PDL, designed for both safety and durability.

Lamp Holder

Each pendant includes a B22 bayonet lamp holder, which fits the common bayonet-type light bulbs (not screw-in bulbs).

Fabric Cable Colours

You can choose from two classic fabric cable colours:

  • Black

  • Natural Brown

If you’d like a different colour fabric cable to better match your décor, just get in touch—I’m happy to help source something special.

Fabric Cable Length

By default, your wooden pendant light comes with 1 metre of cable.

If you have higher ceilings or want the shade to hang lower, you can easily add extra cable length when placing your order. Simply select how many additional metres you need.

Cable Cut-to-Length Service (Free)

To make installation easier, I also offer a free custom cut-to-length service. This means I can pre-adjust the cable length so your pendant arrives ready to hang at the perfect height—no rewiring required at your end.

When ordering, just include your ceiling height and the desired height from the floor to the bottom of the light shade in the notes section.

Not sure about exact measurements? No problem—simply order a little extra cable. Your electrician can adjust the final length on installation.

Flush Mount Option

Prefer a closer fit? Your wooden pendant light shade can also be installed directly onto the ceiling with no hanging cable. This flush mount option works beautifully in spaces with lower ceilings or if you prefer a more minimal look.

If this sounds right for your home, simply get in touch and I’ll be happy to arrange it for you.

✨ With these customization options, your wooden pendant light shade will be tailored to fit both your home and your style.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I request a different fabric cable colour?
Yes. I stock black and natural brown as standard, but I’m happy to source other colours on request—just get in touch before ordering.

Is installation included?
The pendant lights arrive fully wired with all the hardware included, but you need to organise Installation.

Do I need an electrician to install my light?
Yes, a licensed electrician should wire in a new pendant light, as New Zealand law restricts the types of electrical work a homeowner can do. While you can perform some low-risk electrical tasks, unless this is something you’re very familiar with it is recommended you use a professional to ensure it’s installed safely and correctly.

Can I adjust the hanging height myself?
Yes, you can. If you’d like, I can cut the cable to your exact length before shipping (at no extra cost). Otherwise, your electrician can easily adjust the cable length during installation.

What if I have low ceilings?
In that case, the flush mount option (where the shade is fixed directly to the ceiling) may be perfect for you. Just let me know when ordering and I can make this happen.

Can I use LED bulbs with these pendant lights?
Yes, absolutely. The B22 lamp holder is compatible with LED bayonet bulbs, which are energy-efficient and long-lasting.

Why do I burn perfectly good wooden bowls?

Burning wooden bowls does seem a little crazy but it does several positive things.
One of the most obvious is that it creates a striking contrast between the burnt and unburnt areas, this contrast actually makes the unburnt natural wood more striking and noticeable sitting on the kitchen table.

What is ebonised wood?

Ebonising is a beautiful way to turn wood black, as the transformation happens within the wood itself rather than sitting on the surface like paint. The natural grain and texture remain visible, giving depth and character to the finish. Unlike stains or dyes, the rich...

The process of making a wooden bowl

Finding the wood... I'm incredibly lucky that I live on an island covered in native trees: with the coastline dotted with Pohutukawa, hidden valleys of Puriri, and Kanuka as far as the eye can see.  I find most of the wood I use after big storms have brought down...
