I found this burl here on Kawau, down on a stony beach. It took a lot of time to remove the embedded gravel as I turned the piece but the effort was worth it. You can see a lot of the indentations each small stone made in the finished bowl. This, combined with the birds-eye figure, makes it a real looker.
