Commissions
If you’re a collector or designer looking for a unique feature piece made specifically for your space — or you’ve simply seen a wooden bowl or sculptural vessel on my website that has already sold — I’d be glad to discuss a commission with you.
Each piece I create is one-of-a-kind, turned and finished by hand here in New Zealand. While many clients ask me to make something similar to a past work, some commissions are entirely new designs developed to suit a particular home, collection, or interior project.
The easiest way to begin is by filling out my commission enquiry form below (or giving me a call if you prefer to chat directly). From there, we can work together to bring your idea to life.
The Commission Process
I like to keep the process straightforward and collaborative:
1. Initial Conversation
Get in touch via the form below to let me know what you’re after — whether that’s a statement piece, a set of bowls, or something inspired by an earlier work. Sharing details such as the setting, size, or style you have in mind helps shape the design direction.
2. Proposal & Design Development
Based on our discussion, I’ll outline the design concept, materials, finishes, pricing, and an estimated timeline. For larger projects, I may include sketches or examples of possible finishes. We can refine the details together before confirming.
3. Deposit & Scheduling
Once the design is agreed, I’ll request a deposit to confirm the commission and schedule it into my workshop calendar.
4. Crafting & Updates
Each piece is made start to finish by me, using a combination of traditional woodturning and innovative finishing techniques. For larger commissions I’m happy to provide photo updates so you can see the work taking shape.
5. Completion & Approval
When the piece is finished, I’ll share images for your approval before preparing it for delivery.
6. Delivery
Each piece is carefully packed to ensure safe arrival. Each piece also comes with care instructions and a certificate of authenticity.

Frequently Asked Questions
“I know what I like but I’m struggling to describe what I’m after!”
That’s no problem. A simple way to start is to send me a list of bowls or art pieces from my website that you like, or share images of pieces you’ve seen elsewhere. From there, I can help you refine and define the look and feel of what you’re after.
“What materials do you use?”
I primarily work with carefully selected New Zealand native timbers, along with other fine species that grow here. Almost all of my work is made from unseasoned (green) wood, from trees which have needed to be cut for other reasons, providing a character and history unique to every piece.
Can you make something from a tree that’s special to me?
Yes. If you have a tree with personal meaning — perhaps a large specimen that’s come down in a storm or one that’s had to be removed from your property — I can often use the timber to create a lasting piece. It’s a unique way to preserve a connection to that tree in the form of a handcrafted bowl or vessel.
“How long does a commission take?”
Typically 8–12 weeks from the time details are confirmed through to delivery.
“Do you collaborate with designers and architects?”
Yes. I regularly work with interior designers and collectors on bespoke projects.
Can I commission just a single piece?
Absolutely — I welcome both individual commissions and larger series.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. While most of my commissions are for New Zealand collectors and designers, I also regularly ship work worldwide.
How does payment work?
A deposit is taken once we finalize the details, with the balance payable once the commission is ready for shipping.
